DAILY VACATION BIBLE COLLEGE

AUDIO MP3 LECTURES ON THE COURSE ON "WHAT IS BIBLE-PRESBYTERIANISM?"

Is the face of Bible-Presbyterianism in Singapore changing?

The internet encyclopedia—Wikipedia—offers an interesting observation (sv, "Bible Presbyterian Church," http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bible_Presbyterian_Church):

The Bible Presbyterian Church in Singapore is divided into two branches. One group of churches subscribe to the fundamentalist stance of the founders, the other consider themselves to be evangelical. This latter group of churches are denounced by the former to be "neo-evangelical" or "liberal", and are often called "the new BPs" because of a different interpretation on the doctrine of "Biblical Separation". The evangelical branch of Bible-Presbyterian churches embraces the fellowship of any church and seminary that is evangelical and Christian and extends cooperation with para-church organisations like Campus Crusade for Christ International. Thus, many aspiring ministers prefer an evangelical seminary (such as Fuller Theological Seminary, Singapore Bible College, Trinity Theological College or University of Nottingham) over the Bible Presbyterian’s own seminary, Far Eastern Bible College, which is fundamentalist.

So what is truly Bible-Presbyterianism? Is it in the name, or is it in the faith, the doctrines, the spirit, the ethos? This weeklong course of nine lectures plus a Q&A session is open to all, not just Bible-Presbyterians. We welcome all who are interested to know more about the Bible-Presbyterian movement in Singapore—its history, people, churches, missions, doctrines, distinctives, and convictions—to sign up for the course.

In light of this vital question the whole Christian world must answer, "Do Christians today have a Perfect Bible?," the Rev Dr Timothy Tow (founding father of the BP movement in Singapore, and principal of FEBC), and his theological faculty with Dr S H Tow will be discussing why we are particularly BIBLE-Presbyterians. Why Bible? What Bible? Which Bible? There are so many Bibles or Bible Versions and not all are the same. So, what is the Truth? Where is the Truth? Where are the inspired and preserved, infallible and inerrant words of God in the original languages (Hebrew and Greek)? Where is the all-authoritative, all-sufficient Scripture which we can hold in our hands and say, "This is the Word of God!"? Why KJV? Come and learn!
