True Happiness
Every one of us desires and seeks for lasting happiness.
Many are disappointed when they cannot find true happiness from their
life partners or their families, from their success and fame, popularity
and position, or from wealth and honours. Many have tried seeking for
happiness from philosophies and religions in this world, but their
hearts still thirst for the truth, goodness and virtues that they long
for. Many always smile and talk with zeal, have many friends, and enjoy
all the modern and material comforts and pleasures they like, but when
coming back to themselves, they feel lonely with a vague sadness and
they cannot stand living alone without their loved ones, friends and the
things they like. Many others have tried seeking solace in alcohol,
gambling, drugs, movies, worldly pleasures, etc., but after such a
temporary and seductive solace, what is left behind in their hearts are
bitterness, emptiness and meaninglessness.
The Lord Jesus says, “Whosoever drinketh of this
water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I
shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him
shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life”
(John 4:13-14). The Lord Jesus confirms that nothing in this world can
give you and me true and lasting satisfaction and happiness. Only the
Lord Jesus is able to give you and me true happiness, as He created us,
loves us and is able to save you and me perfectly when we wholeheartedly
trust in Him and commit our lives to Him to live according to His will.
