True Peace
What is your sincere answer to the question whether you
have peace in your heart? You may think you will just live with optimism
without any worries, but life in this world is not as simple as you
think. You and I do not know what may happen to us and to our loved ones
tomorrow. Today you may live in peace when you are still healthy and
have a stable job, a nice family, and a lot of money in the bank, etc.
However, your peace will disappear and worries and insecurities will
occupy your heart when you lose your job, or you fall sick, your family
happiness falls into pieces, you lack money, you are misunderstood,
criticized, or opposed, when your secrets are exposed, or when you have
to encounter difficulties, threats, dangers, natural disasters or death.
The Lord Jesus says to His disciples, “Peace I
leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give
I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid”
(John 14:27). The Lord Jesus confirms that the peace that the world
gives to you and me is only temporary, but the peace that He gives is
lasting, as He is our Creator, almighty, loving and all-wise, and if He
is for us and keeping us, we shall have true peace in all situations
when we wholeheartedly trust in Him and commit our lives to Him to live
according to His will. Living out of the Lord’s will, we can never have
true peace!
