Sentence against an Evil Work (Part 1)
The world
nowadays is getting worse morally, ethically and spiritually. The
Scripture says, “For men shall be lovers of their own selves,
covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents,
unthankful, unholy,
Without
natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce,
despisers of those that are good,
Traitors,
heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a
form of godliness, but denying the power thereof…”
(2 Tim 3:2-5). Many just enjoy life and indulge in ungodly pleasures,
sins, lies, unfilial impiety, arrogance, drinking, gambling, opiumism,
fornication, homosexuality, crimes, etc. without any idea that some day
they will be judged before the righteous and holy Creator!
Many
books, novels, movies, websites blaspheme God, Jesus’ Name, and His
Word, the Scripture. Even in churches many neither fear God nor honour
His Word. They compromise and tolerate sins, unbiblical doctrines and
worldliness!
We even
see those who live in hypocrisy, sins and immorality wealthy, prosperous
and successful, and this emboldens them to say, write, or do
presumptuous things regardless of ethics or God’s judgment! Why? God’s
Word gives us the answer,
“Because
a sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the
heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil”
(Eccl 8:11).
Sometimes
we see God quickly carry out His judgment on evil works so that people
fear God and honour His Word. If God always executes His judgment like
that, definitely no one can survive before His righteous judgment!
Thank God
for His love, goodness and mercy, He “is longsuffering to us-ward,
not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to
repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9). Sadly, many abuse God’s love, despise
His goodness and longsuffering, and keep on living in sins! How about
you? Please read our next article.
