Fear God and Keep
His Word (Part 4)
No one can escape the
righteous judgement of God, the Creator, so to fear God and keep His
Word is our duty and blessings,
“Blessed
is the man that feareth the
LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments”
(Ps 112:1). Then,
what does it mean to fear God and keep His Word?
Believe in God and His
Word:
“But without faith it is impossible to
please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that
he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him”
(Heb 11:6), and
“whatsoever
is not of faith is sin”
(Rom 14:23). The Lord Jesus says,
“For
whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son
of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his
Father's, and of the holy angels” (Luke 9:26). Do you believe in
the Lord and His Word?
Love the Lord and Keep
His Word:
The Lord Jesus has summarised God’s
commandments,
“Thou shalt love
the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all
thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself”
(Luke 10:27). Loving the Lord is keeping His commandments and His words
(John 14:21, 23). That means we must
worship God alone, respect His Name, honour our parents, live a holy
life with love, honesty, sincerity, and contentment, and believe in the
Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ (Exod 20:3-17; 1 John 3:23). Do you and I
fear God and keep His Word?
“Whoso despiseth the word shall be
destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded” (Prov
13:13).
Depart from Sins and
Evil:
God is holy and He hates sins and evil. If we fear God, we must
also hate and depart from sins and evil,
“The
fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil
way, and the froward mouth, do I hate,”
and
“by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil”
(Prov 8:13; 16:6).
Do you and I truly fear
God and keep His Word?
