God’s Protection
(Part 5)
To be kept by the
Lord, we are to carefully keep ourselves according to His Word, hide
ourselves in Him, pray and live in His presence, trust in Him and commit
everything to Him. Today we shall tell about loving the Lord, keeping
His Word and showing our kindness to the poor.
Love God and Keep His
Word:
We must be God’s beloved and obedient children, “The LORD preserveth
all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy” (Ps
145:20) and “Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also
will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all
the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth” (Rev 3:10). Many
say that they love the Lord, but their lives and worship are not
according to His Word! The Lord Jesus confirms, “If a man love me, he
will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto
him, and make our abode with him” (John 14:23). Do you and I love
God and keep His Word?
Be Kind to the Needy:
Sometimes we forget that God is concerned for the poor and needy. His
Word says, “He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath
mercy on the poor, happy is he… He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth
unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again” (Prov
14:21; 19:17). The Lord Jesus was moved with compassion on the needy who
did not have His guidance, “But when he saw the multitudes, he was
moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered
abroad, as sheep having no shepherd” (Matt 9:36). To be kind to the
poor and the needy and be concerned for their souls by sharing with them
God’s love and salvation is a good work we should do if we want God to
keep us in time of trouble, “Blessed is he that considereth the poor:
the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.
The LORD
will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the
earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies”
(Ps 41:1-2). Do you and I do this good work?
