Jesus Is the Son of God (Part 2)

Do you really believe that Jesus is the Son of God? God’s Word says, “Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God” (1 John 4:15). This confession denotes a belief that Jesus is equal with God and is God. This belief is very vital because believing that Jesus is the omnipotent God (having power to do all things), omniscient (knowing all things) and omnipresent (being everywhere) will help you and me overcome sins, temptations and worldliness, “Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?” (1 John 5:5), and only when having the Lord Jesus Himself do you and I have eternal life, “He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life” (1 John 5:12).

When Nathanael acknowledged Jesus’ omniscience and omnipresence, he confessed to Jesus, “Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel” (John 1:49). After having witnessed the Lord Jesus’ power calming down the storm by His Word, His disciples “came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God” (Matt 14:33).

When Peter confessed to Jesus, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God” (Matt 16:16), Jesus said to him, “Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven” (v 17). Not by flesh and blood means neither Peter could know it by himself nor did any man reveal it to him. Dear friends, if the Lord does not open your hearts and reveals Himself to you, you cannot know Jesus as the Son of God with a true heart of trust and reverence and no one can help you obtain that spiritual knowledge. Many have a head-knowledge of the Lord, but their hearts are far from Him.

The apostle Thomas confessed to Jesus, “My Lord and my God” (John 20:28). How about you? Please read our next article.
