Trust in God’s Mercy (Part 2)
How can you
and I trust in God’s mercy if we do not know Him and His mercy? Many
only see the sufferings in life and in this world and then conclude, “I
do not see the loving and merciful God anywhere.” How can we know and
understand God’s mercy? God’s mercy has been shown through:
(1)
God’s Creation: “the earth is full of the goodness (mercy) of
the LORD” (Ps 33:5), and “The LORD is good to all: and his tender
mercies are over all his works” (Ps 145:9). When looking at the
universe and all things God created and understanding that human beings
cannot survive without the air to breath, without water to drink,
without food to eat, without light, rain, sunshine, or crops…, we shall
thank God for His mercy (Ps 136:7, 25; Acts 14:17).
(2)
God’s Word, the Holy Scriptures: “The LORD, The LORD God,
merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and
truth” (Exod 34:6). We need to read the Scriptures to know about
God, His will and His mercy.
(3) God’s
Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ:
“In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God
sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through
him” (1 John 4:9). When realising that we shall die in sins and in
Hell of fire for ever without the salvation by the Lord Jesus Christ, we
shall believe in the Lord Jesus and thank God for His mercy.
Nevertheless, why do many still not see, understand and believe? It is
sin and pride that separate human beings from the Lord. Therefore, the
first step is to humble ourselves, repent and receive the Lord Jesus
Christ as the Saviour and King of our lives so that our sins may be
forgiven, our hearts may be renewed (regenerated), and our spiritual
eyes may be opened to see and believe. The Lord Jesus says, “Except a
man be born again, he cannot see the
kingdom of God”
(John 3:3). Have you trusted in God’s mercy? Please read our next
