Trust in God’s Mercy (Part 4)

“Mercy,” according to the Scripture, is God’s merciful love, withholding punishment from offenders who deserve it and giving help to the helpless who do not deserve it. Many think that as God is merciful and loving, He will not condemn human beings to Hell, so they just enjoy their lives, without any worry or preparation for their future eternity! If that were true, there would not be justice at all because the wicked and the good are the same! The Scripture tells us that God is not only good, merciful and loving, but also holy and righteous. He will not ignore sins but will condemn sinners to Hell, “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” (Heb 9:27), and “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death” (Rev 21:8).

God has manifested His mercy, love and righteousness when He sent His only begotten Son, even the Lord Jesus Christ, to this world to die for mankind and rise again to save those who acknowledge their sins, repent, and accept God’s love by calling upon the name of the Lord and receiving the Lord Jesus Christ as their King and Saviour, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Rom 10:13), “But as many as received him (Jesus Christ), to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name” (John 1:12).

The Lord mercifully loves you, but have you cried unto Him for His mercy and salvation? When you sincerely and humbly pray to Him, “God be merciful to me a sinner” (Luke 18:13), surely you will enjoy His mercy. Please read our next article.
