A
Joyful Heart (Part 1)
Do you really
have a joyful heart? Many feel sad in self-pity as they have neither
good-looking appearance, nor talents, nor good health, nor wealth, nor
jobs, nor careers, nor friends, etc.
Many thought if
they had wealth and high positions in society, they would be joyful and
happy, so they coveted promotion and wealth, but in the end they found
out that money and high positions of power could not really make their
hearts happy and satisfied for long although they might have luxurious
materials or facilities, life comforts, delicious meals, leisure
traveling here and there, many friends, and so on. Life in this world is
not as simple as we think. Many have a joyful chat or interaction with
the people around them, but when coming back to themselves, they feel
lonely with a vague sadness in their hearts. Many are happy when they
get the attention and praise from others, but they are upset right away
when they are despised or criticised. Many are disappointed and sad
because their life-partners or their children are not as good as they
have expected. Many have tried seeking happiness in human religions and
philosophies, but their hearts still thirst for what is true, good and
perfect. Many have tried seeking joy in worldly pleasures, movies,
music, alcohol, drugs, etc., but after such minutes of temporary joy or
solace, what is left behind in their hearts are only the emptiness and
meaninglessness of life. The Lord Jesus says, “Whosoever drinketh
of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water
that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall
give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting
life” (John 4:13-14). Dear friends, the Lord Jesus
confirms that neither anyone nor anything in this world can make you
truly happy and satisfied. Only the Lord, who created you, is able to
save you and give you a true and long-lasting joy in your hearts. Please
