A Joyful Heart (Part 6)
It is really a blessing for those who sincerely repent of
their sins, humbly trust in the Lord and follow Him, and are saved,
regenerated, and given power to live according to His holy teachings.
God’s Word teaches us, “Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say,
Rejoice” (Phil 4:4). The verb “rejoice” in Greek is a command in the
present tense, denoting, “Keep on rejoicing.” Then, the Lord wants you
and me to keep on rejoicing in Him all the time, rejoicing because of
the Lord, who has loved, saved, taken care of, protected and guided us
and not because of anything in this sinful world.
If you are parents, what do you feel if your
children are not happy when you come back home or when you meet them on
the street? Many children are happy when their parents give them
presents or money, otherwise, they are disappointed, or they feel
uncomfortable when their parents give them some advice or ask them to
help with something. How do you feel when you have written a letter to
the person you love, but your loved one is not happy to receive your
letter and even does not bother to read it? God, who created human
beings and He loved them so much that He gave His only begotten Son, the
Lord Jesus, who came into this world as a man, died to bear their sins,
and rose again to save those who repent of their sins and receive Him as
their Saviour. He must be disappointed when many do not like to seek
Him, nor to read His Word (the Holy Scriptures), nor to gladly welcome
Him to reign their hearts and lives. Many like reading books and
newspapers, watching movies and enjoying worldly pleasures rather than
reading God’s Word and seeking Him! “God looked down from heaven upon
the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that
did seek God. Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become
filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one” (Psalm 53:2-3).
How about you? Do you always rejoice in the Lord? “Let all those that
seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee” (Ps 40:16). Please read our
next article.
