A Peaceful Heart (Part 1)

On the occasion of the Lunar New Year, the Chinese and the Vietnamese usually exchange their best wishes at the beginning of the Lunar Year with a hope that those wishes will come true during the year; for example, good health, success, peaceful settlement, prosperity, wealth, joy, happiness, longevity, etc. However, not many highly value and seek true peace for their hearts.

Do you really have a peaceful heart? Many think that they just live with optimism without any worries, but life in this world is not as simple as they think. In the current global economic recession, many companies went bankrupt or closed down, business and tourism are stagnant, many lost their jobs, etc., and this makes many people worried. When you lose your job or become seriously ill, your heart will be worried, not to mention when your family happiness falls into pieces, when you lack money, when your secrets are exposed, when you are misunderstood, misjudged, criticized, evil-spoken of, opposed, envied, hated or when you have to encounter difficulties, trials, threats, natural disasters, or death, etc. Such things may happen to you any time and they will surely trouble your hearts with worries and fears. Therefore, if your peace relies on yourself or on anyone or on anything in this world, that peace is neither true nor long lasting, not to mention the fact that your conscience will not leave you in peace when you speak or do phoney, wicked or sinful things.

Then, how to have a peaceful heart in all situations? The Saviour Jesus Christ is “The Prince of Peace” (Isa 9:6), and He is able to save you and give you His peace, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27). Please read our next article.
