A
Peaceful Heart (Part 5)
Do God’s Will and
Follow His Guidance:
God is perfect, good, holy and wise, so His will is
perfect, good, holy and wise. However, many still do not want to do
God’s will because they are afraid that they have to live in honesty,
humility, self-sacrifice, self-denial, separation from worldly
pleasures, etc. We see many living without true peace because they live
or do the things against God’s will. The prophet Jonah ran away from
God’s will, so he not only lost his peace but also brought troubles to
others (Jonah 1). Many believers made friends with and got married with
ungodly people without seeking God’s will in the Holy Scriptures or due
to lacking patience in waiting upon the Lord and walking after His
guidance. They thought their decisions and choices were right and wise,
but in the end, their lives were full of troubles and sufferings without
true peace at all. Dear friends, the Lord is the Prince of peace and the
Source of peace. With His presence and guidance, we shall have true
peace. King David shared his experience, “Yea, though I walk through
the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art
with me” (Ps 23:4).
Do you want to
enjoy the Lord’s presence and guidance? Just humbly trust in the Lord,
seek His will and walk after His guidance like a sheep walking after the
Shepherd instead of running ahead of Him. The Lord Jesus says, “And
when he (the shepherd) putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth
before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice”
(John 10:4). We shall be familiar with the Lord’s voice if we read and
meditate on His Word (the Holy Scriptures) every day in order to know
how to worship Him according to His Word and to live wisely to enjoy His
salvation through faith in the Saviour Jesus Christ (2 Tim 3:15). Dear
friends, it is really wise if you and I love to read, hear, and do God’s
Word so as to enjoy the presence of the God of peace with us (Phil 4:9)
for “Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall
offend them” (Ps 119:165). Please read our next article.
