PASTORAL CHAT

My Dear Readers

In our Christmas Carolling on Sunday night Dec 21 from 6pm to 12am we visited 3 homes, the Chongs, the Chngs and the Tais when the gospel message was preached. Can you recognise whose house is this? This photo is chosen because it is bright enough.

In San Francisco College I saw this slogan written across its entrance: “The trend is towards the trained”. In our case “Our attendance at RELC is on the ascendance”. Let us do something for the Lord by bringing some unsaved persons to Christ every Lord's Day.

With the New Year we are hoping for better times. But times are bad according to Bible prophecy. Earthquakes and pestilences, wars and rumours of wars, famines, false Christs and prophets, betrayal in the Church. This gospel must be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations and then shall the end come. Accelerated missions!

We thank God that someone has given $500 for our Cambodian missionaries, David Koo, Surish, Jonathan Lee, Moses Hahn to help out. Also $300 for FEBC students to spend.

HOW JESUS TAKETH PUNY MEN IN THEIR OWN CRAFTINESS

XXVII. Jesus' Authority Questioned

“And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority? And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one thing, which if ye tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what authority I do these things. The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him? But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet. And they answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell. And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.” Matt 21:23-27

Commentary

Puny men with such foolish audacity confronting the Son of God are totally vanquished and taken in their own craftiness (Job 5:12 , I Cor 3:19 ). Not realising they were facing God, the Second Person, they had to shut up, shame-faced, and brow beaten.

We have come full circle from I to XXVII and seen how puny men have still not learned their lesson. How can man outwit God?

THE GIFT OF CHRISTMAS

When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. Matthew 2:10

In everything give thanks to the Lord Jesus for His precious gift laid on the altar of the world for the redemption of sinners. Ephesians 5:20

Wishing You and loved ones Pastor Timothy, Ivy Tow and Family

Blessed Christmas and Happy New Year

Every year at Christmas time I take a look at a book all the names written in my heart. Each name stands for someone who has touched my life sometime for whether I've known you for many years or few, in some way you had a part in shaping things I do.

Much is taken with the years but memories remain the best and brightest of the past comes back to us again when we think our quiet thoughts at Christmas in our hearts remembering good faithful friends or relatives and happiness spent.

“The sights and sounds of Christmas woefully will depart. But the wonderous love of Jesus can remain with each heart”.

God cares for you whatever life shall bring your way. Through each and every fleeting months and long years too. God in Heaven shall care for you in good health and spiritual wisdom.

So with the knowledge you may go serenely content your whole life through.

CHRISTMAS IS LOVE

“WHY ARE WE HERE?” WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF LIFE?

A wonderful life is yours when you know Jesus Christ came to declare God's love for us (John 3:16 ). “Not only did God send His only son into the world at exactly the right time.” Galatians 4:4-5. But He also demonstrated His own love toward us in that while we were still sinners. Christ's love journey to Calvary Cross for our sins. The astronaut James Ervin said, “The great event is not when man walks on the moon it's when God walks on the earth to solve man's problems.” Remember God provides U-turns repent and ask forgiveness. The gospel bells are ringing over land and seas; Blessed news of free salvation. Do not slight the invitation nor reject the gracious call. “I am the bread of life.” Eat of me thou hungry souls.

The Christmas Tree reminds us of Christ being hung upon a wooden cross when He was crucified. Now an “Evergreen Tree” means “Eternal Life”. The joy of knowing Jesus Christ and living in His love. Hallelujah, Amen.
