LADIES FELLOWSHIP Judith d’Silva
The Ladies Fellowship meets every first Wednesday of the month. This is when we gather together to ask the Lord’s blessings that He may chasten, lead and mould us to be His channels fit for service and for His Kingdom.
We thank the Lord for the Ladies Fellowship. We were the first fellowship group that was formed, three months after we began worshipping at the FEBC Lord’s Day Service. Encouraged by Mrs Tow, a few ladies got together and the inaugural meeting of the Ladies Fellowship was held on Wednesday 4 Feb 04 at the home of Mrs Quek Siok Eng. It was befitting that Pastor Tow delivered the message – reading from Luke 8:1-3 – and he set the ladies two objectives in forming the fellowship. First, giving to missions. “Missionaries, labouring afar off with small young churches need our help. We should from the start set a goal to help them.” Second, studying God’s Word. “We have the exemplary conduct of Mary of Bethany who listened to Jesus’ sermon and is highly commended…. So our monthly meetings must be well attended to hear God’s Word. We must pray for good speakers.”
We thank God for providing faithful preachers to instruct us in His Word and for bringing the ladies every month. Even though many may be tired after a hard day’s work, they come regularly and are blessed by the faithful preaching of God’s Word. We believe that when we delight in the law of the Lord, we shall be like the trees planted by the rivers of water that bringeth forth fruit in due season. This year, we thank the Lord for enabling Rev Das Koshy to speak to us on a series of messages on The Faith of the Saints.
Hearts are also encouraged by the sharing of testimonies, the offering of prayer one for another, and the joining of voices in songs of praise. Over the years, the fellowship has grown deeper as testimonies are given more freely and readily, and as we intercede one for another. Much time is spent in testifying and in prayer. There is much eagerness and excitement in wanting to tell about God’s goodness and mercies, and even around the refreshment table there is more sharing and encouraging. No one is in a hurry to go home, and everyone lends a hand in clearing up and putting things away.
The group may not be large, but the blessings are abundant. Indeed the ladies have given freely and, heeding the words of Pastor Tow, “but do not forget the collection to help our missionaries”, the Ladies Fellowship is grateful for being able to support the mission of Marilyn Nanta in Sarawak with a love gift every month. May the Lord lead us to support a second mission so that we give as much as we have received.
Until 2006, the ladies met in the home of Mrs Quek, who not only turned her living room into a meeting hall but also prepared a generous table of refreshments for us. Even though she was busy all day at work, she would rush home in time to prepare for the meeting, and her maid was such a big help too. Our favourites were her laksa, mee siam and chicken porridge. There was always so much to eat. We thank God for Mrs Quek. Not wanting to burden her further, the ladies have been holding our meetings on the fifth floor of RELC since 2006. While settled there, we have also been blessed by sisters who have opened their homes for LF meetings, such as Dr Chng Hiok Hee, Su Yuan and Mui Mui.
We welcome both sisters and brothers to our fellowship. We are always glad to see Dn Charles, who has been such a blessing and wonderful help to us. On 3 February, we will be commemorating our 6th Anniversary with a thanksgiving service. Rev Dr Jeffrey Khoo will be the Lord’s messenger and the ladies are having a pot-bless. Nothing like home-cooked food to make a joyous occasion even more special. Do come to seek the Lord’s blessings.
Testimonies
When I look back, I can see God’s gracious hand working things out for us and ordering them according to His will and wisdom. He provided faithful speakers every month. Praise God for all the ladies who come to seek the Lord and study His Word. There are many new faces. God is so good. He knows who to bring to the LF. All glory be to God. Deborah Mae
I thank God for the ministry of the Ladies Fellowship. It is a privilege for me to be part of the fellowship, to gather and worship God through the singing of hymns, praying and studying God’s Word. I have heard many sermons which were faithfully preached and I have been spiritually nourished and enriched by God’s Word. I hope that more brethren will come and receive these blessings from our Heavenly Father. Praise the Lord! Grace Soon
I thank God for leading me to the Ladies Fellowship in June 09. Being very new to True Life BP then, I was yearning for more opportunities to listen to God’s Word. With Sister Jenny’s invitation, I started attending this Fellowship. Preacher Dennis Kabingue was doing a series on “He That Overcometh” from the Book of Revelation, and each session drew practical lessons for me on God’s teachings. Although it is a small group, every fellowship is sweet with the sisters’ testimonies and personal sharing. I look forward to such mid-week meetings where I draw strength from the preaching of God’s Word and being among His people. I truly thank God for this fellowship as it has been a great encouragement to me in my daily walk with God. Rebecca Chan
Thank God for the Ladies Fellowship. I started attending LF about 3 years ago. When I was still working, I always looked forward to the LF meeting even though I was very tired after a day’s work. However, God never failed to uplift my spirit with His Word and the sharing and prayers of the sisters. Thank God also for His faithful servants for teaching us His Word and the warm fellowship around the sumptuous supper thereafter. Su Yuan
Verse for the Week:
