FEBC Under Siege by Life BPC:
Pray for Peace and Unity Based on Truth and Charity

REV DR QUEK SUAN YEW'S RESPONSE TO REV CHARLES SEET

From: Rev Dr Quek Suan Yew

Date: 1/5/2008 5:46:41 PM

To: Life Bible-Presbyterian Church

Subject: Re: FEBC Night Classes

Dear Rev Seet,

Greetings in the Lord's blessed Name.

I am writing this on a personal capacity. This is written with the hope that you will see the light.

The doctrine of VPP taught by FEBC is not contrary to the Word of God but affirms the Word of God. FEBC teaches that we have the perfect Bible in our hands today and throughout the ages.

Do you really believe in what you wrote here . . . That holding a perfect Bible in your hands is heresy? This is the doctrine of VPP as taught in FEBC.

Are you saying that believing in a perfect Bible and holding it in our hands is against the Word of God? Show one verse to prove your case please. The Bible is replete with Bible verses claiming that it is perfect not imperfect as you suggest. Psalms 19:7, "The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple."

If you are saying that to hold in our hands a perfect Bible is heresy, then you are saying that Moses was a heretic when he came down from Mount Sinai with God's perfect Ten Commandments in his hands. Or do you believe that God's Ten Commandments has mistakes? I hope not. This goes for all the prophets and apostles in the Bible who held God's perfect Word in their hands.

Please do not confuse the translations with the Bible (original languages). I may hold in my hands a translation with mistakes or an incomplete translation like that of Tyndale's with only a completed NT and some OT books. It does not mean that I do not have the perfect Bible or perfect doctrines. My perfect Bible is always in the Word of God in the original languages. It is the basis of my faith not the translation. For to depend on the translations for my doctrines and faith would mean that if I do not have the English Bible then I do not have any truths and no faith. If there is no English or Chinese translation it simply means that there is no perfect Bible that I could read but there is still the perfect Bible which is in the original languages. If we say that we do not have the perfect Bible in the original languages then we really do not have the truths of God that He has inspired and revealed to us. Some of these attackers of the doctrine of VPP are defending a translation and in the course of defending their translation they attack the Bible which is the foundation of their translation. This is foolishness. Let us say you read Jn 3:16 in Greek and from the TR and were asked if this verse is perfect. Would your answer be yes or no? If your answer is yes, then apply this rule to all the verses in the Bible in the original languages - aren't they then all perfect? If you answer no and that it has mistakes, then you may be asked where the mistake is  or mistakes are. You would be hard pressed to answer and doubts would creep in and you would have no gospel to preach. If this verse has mistakes, then all the verses would have mistakes. Then all your doctrines would be in jeopardy! ALL BECAUSE YOU REJECT THAT GOD HAS PRESERVED FOR US A PERFECT BIBLE! It is not true, and you know it, that when one believes in a Bible with mistakes no doctrine is affected; on the contrary EVERY DOCTRINE is affected.

This is a new and the latest attack on the integrity and veracity of God's Word. The enemies of old attacked the doctrine of inspiration hence VPI was coined to defend against the attack. Today the attack is on preservation hence the same phrase is coined to defend the same perfect Word of God. The doctrine of VPP is the only defense against such an onslaught. It is the attack on the perfect Word of God that has caused all the disturbances in our churches, not the defending of it. All our BBK notes have always taught that we have the perfect Bible in our hands. Our Constitution and WCF both teach it clearly. Are you saying that when you first became a Christian you were told that the gospel you received has mistakes or originates from a Bible with mistakes?

Charles, are you really so blinded and your heart so hardened that you really believe what you have just written to Rev Tow? You know in your heart of hearts how he had been pushed out and humiliated at Session meetings and yet you can sit in Rev Tow's office and preach from Rev Tow's pulpit with no ounce of conscience? Can you really pray with a clear conscience? Can you really go home at night and look at your children knowing what you have done to your own spiritual father, Rev Tow? Can you really close your eyes at night and sleep knowing what you are doing to God's Word and the testimony of God, attacking it and saying that it has mistakes? Can you really stand before God one day and after what you have done to Rev Tow, God's College, and now trying to hinder God's work? This is the ethical and moral issue you have to live with daily. Let me be very frank with you. The LORD has preserved Rev Tow for such a time as this when you who have sinned against God and him can still go to him and ask for his forgiveness. Rev Tow is the LORD's anointed in the founding of the B-P movement and FEBC. You cannot deny this in all honesty. You were not even born yet when that happened. If the LORD takes Rev Tow home before you repent of your sins against him, you will regret it for the rest of your life and this will haunt you until the LORD returns! Delay no longer in your repentance. God says, " . . . .for who can stretch forth his hand against the LORD'S anointed, and be guiltless?" (1 Sam. 26:9)

1 John 1:8-10 says, "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us."

What has happened to you Charles? Come back to the LORD please I beg you.

We have never been close at all but we did work together.  I never imagined that you would turn out like this - attacking your own Bible, your God, your spiritual father and your College.

What is wrong with believing that we have a perfect Bible in our hands? At the time of inspiration did all the prophets and apostles not hold in their hands the perfect Word of God? Surely they did! Would call them heretics then?

Please Charles, my plea to you is to search your own soul. If there is still some semblance of righteousness and conscience please for Christ's sake stop what you are doing and turn back to the LORD before it is too late. There is no other way. Do not kick against the pricks!

Proverbs 27:5-6, "Open rebuke is better than secret love. Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful."

May God have mercy upon us all.
