DVBC ONLINE

Stay Home, Stay Safe, Stay Online.

In view of the social distancing measures to keep the Covid-19 plague in check, Far Eastern Bible College (FEBC) is offering its Daily Vacation Bible College (DVBC) courses online this time. Since the government is encouraging as many as possible to stay home and not go out unless very necessary, your “homestay” or “staycation” can be put to good use by studying God’s Word.

Four online courses are offered: (1) The Sevenfold Will of God (2) Dispensationalism and Covenant Theology, (3) Zechariah, and (4) History of Fundamentalism. The courses are held concurrently from May 11 to July 5, 2020. You may choose to take any course or all four if you wish.

In such trying and difficult times, the Word of God gives counsel and comfort, hope and strength. When the Scriptures are faithfully and prayerfully studied, the Holy Spirit guides believers into all truth (John 16:13) and grants them wisdom so that they might live their lives to the glory of God (2 Cor 4:6).

“See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” (Eph 5:15–16).

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

THE SEVENFOLD WILL OF GOD

One Credit
Rev Dr Jeffrey Khoo

This course acquaints students with the seven aspects of God’s sovereign will. Knowing the sevenfold will of God will give God’s people certainty and clarity on what life is all about and what God desires of His people as they live for Him. It will help believers make good and right decisions that will please God, and keep us on the right track in our journey towards heaven. The lectures were originally delivered at a church camp in 2012.

DISPENSATIONALISM AND COVENANT THEOLOGY

One Credit
Rev Dr Jeffrey Khoo

This course is a comparative and evaluative study of dispensationalism and covenant theology especially in the areas of hermeneutics, ecclesiology, soteriology, and eschatology. It seeks to articulate the Reformed-Premillennial view of God’s redemptive plan and of the end-times for both His Church and Israel.

ZECHARIAH

Two Credits
Rev Dr Jeffrey Khoo

This course is a devotional study of the book of Zechariah. Zechariah is a book which highlights the sovereignty and faithfulness of God. God is shown to be in control of world events through all His prophecies and promises to His chosen nation Israel and to His Church. Zechariah also has plenty to say about the First and Second Coming of Christ. The sermons were originally delivered at the worship services of True Life BPC.

Bio: Rev Dr Jeffrey Khoo is Principal of Far Eastern Bible College and Pastor of True Life Bible-Presbyterian Church.

HISTORY OF FUNDAMENTALISM

One Credit
Rev Dr Park Seung Kyu

Through this course, students will gain a basic knowledge of the history of Biblical Fundamentalism and of the men who defended the historic Christian Faith in modern times. Students will see God’s providence at work in preserving His Church, how God used faithful men to defend His Truth, and be warned of the dangerous doctrines and movements that seek to destroy the Faith.

Bio: Rev Dr Park Seung Kyu is a missionary to Africa and principal of the Bible College of East Africa in Tanzania. He holds a PhD in History from Kyung Hee University and a ThD from Far Eastern Bible College.

FAQ

What is the study schedule and workload like?

The DVBC online courses are offered in the same vein as the Basic Theology for Everyone (BTFE) online courses. Those who had taken the BTFE online courses should be familiar with the academic system and schedule. The only difference is that the regular BTFE courses are done over a period of 16 weeks while the DVBC online courses will last for just 8 weeks (May 11-July 5). Despite the shorter period, the lecture hours and academic requirements remain the same.

Thus, a student who signs up for a 1-credit DVBC course is expected to spend about 6 hours of study per week (2 hours of lectures plus 4 hours of reading and writing). A student who takes a 2-credit course will have to spend twice that amount of time per week. If all 4 courses are taken (5 credits), then it would be 30 hours per week (about 4-5 hours per day).

The above applies only to credit students who are working towards their certificate. Audit students need not fulfil the course requirements and will not receive any credit or grade.
